Police Sports Club defeated the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) by an innings and 125 runs in the lone fixture of the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA) Hadi’s World Incorporated division one, two-day competition last weekend.
GDF produced two dismal batting performances and capitulated to an all round Police effort.
GDF won the toss and chose to bat first only to be dismissed for 91
in 28.5 overs. Off-spinner Jason Heyliger took 3-28 while Latchman Persaud supported ably with 3-30.
Police then galloped to 350/9 declared in 79 overs. Rayon Fredericks hit 76, Shameer Fazal 60, and Vishal Jaigobin made 58 not out. Pacer Trevon Garraway was GDF’s most successful bowler with 3 for 88, while J. Jones took 3-38.
Behind by 259 runs, GDF struggled to 134 all out in their second innings in 40.5 overs. Only pacer Garraway flourished in their second turn at the crease with an unbeaten 64.
There were two wickets each for Randolph Reynolds (2-39), Ryan Rajmangal (2 for 2) and Vishal Jaigobin 2-29.
