The AFC has paid tribute to the late Dale Bisnauth as a voice of conscience against authoritarianism at a time when many were fearful and Guyana was described by author George Lamming as a “dangerous land.”
In a statement expressing sympathy on Bisnauth’s death, the AFC said that he was fearless in his views both from the pulpit and, later, the political platform and in his influential newspaper articles, including those in Caribbean Contact.
Bisnauth died last week after a heart attack. He was 76.
The AFC statement said that it was not surprising that he would have been appointed a government minister, firstly for Education to which portfolio he lent an image of morality and rectitude in public life and later for Labour.
The AFC said that Bisnauth’s death is mourned by all those whose lives he has touched with grace, humility and kindness. The AFC mourned his passing as a great loss and expressed condolences to his bereaved family.
