Kwame Anderson, the owner of the Confidential Cabs taxi service, was yesterday released on $200,000 bail on an attempted murder charge.
Anderson was refused bail when he was arraigned appeared before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry on Monday at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
His lawyer, Mark Waldron, renewed his bail application when the case was called again yesterday.
Anderson, 35, of 449 Diamond Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara is accused of maliciously assaulting Lawrence Fanfair on April 4, at Robb Street, with the intent to commit murder.
Police Corporal Seon Blackman had no objection with Anderson being released on bail, saying that he had visited Fanfair at the Georgetown Public Hospital and he was recovery well.
On the last occasion Blackman objected to bail, saying that Fanfair was still a patient in the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital.
With his bail release, Anderson was also ordered to report to the Alberttown Police Station.
The case will be called again on April 26.
