The two persons who died in yesterday’s light plane crash at Sparendaam have been identified as an American and a Canadian.
The pilot has been identified as Pierre Angiel, 71, of Florida and the Canadian technician as Nick Dmitriev, 54. Angiel’s identity was revealed by Guyana Civil Aviation Authority Chief Zulficar Mohammed to the Associated Press. Dmitriev’s identity has been confirmed by Stabroek News with local sources. Dmitriev was part of a team conducting a survey of the Amaila Falls access road. Angiel was from a Miami-based company.
