Kashif and Shanghai’s 2012 football champs, Buxton United yesterday morning received gym equipment to aid in the players development from Guyana’s largest manufacturer of quality hardware items and heavy construction materials, Gafsons Industries Limited at their Hutson quarter’s.
Manager of the Gym and Home Appliances Department, Shonell Yarde in handing over the equipment to Lyndon France, head of the Technical Department of the Buxton United Football Club, said Gafsons was privileged to be associated with the club and was always willing to contribute to humanity in general, in this instance fitness.
“It provides us with the opportunity to help in the development of healthy bodies and mind,” said Yarde.
The gesture made was the first of its kind on behalf of the company supporting the club which lacked a gym facility.
Yarde challenged the players of the club to work diligently towards achieving their goals, adding that the donation was the beginning of a partnership between the two.
“I encourage all of the members of this club to use the equipment effectively and efficiently,” she said.
France said he was happy the company responded positively to their request for assistance, adding that 69 nine young players were lately registered with the East Demerara Football Association (EDFA).
“We understand that the physical conditioning of players is integral to the development of top quality players and gym equipment is necessary for you to achieve the best conditioning,” he said.
He promised that the equipment will also be used to assist promoting a healthy lifestyle for the residents of the Buxton FRienship communities allowing physical conditioning and rehabilitation by the players and the villagers.
France also indicated that the club intends to have a physiotherapist working at least part time in the evenings to assist their villagers who would have acquired injuries.
He said the social capital investment by the company will go a long way as it will serve its purpose in the club achieving its goals and hopes that the company and club will be partners in future ventures.
