SINOVILLE, South Africa, CMC-Trinidad and Tobago women’s cricket team continues its successful rampage on its tour of South Africa by winning back-to-back- T20 matches against Northerns here on Sunday.
The experience Stacy-Ann King missed her century by 8 runs but her efforts led the visitors to a comfortable 49-run win in the first match in Sinoville.
King plundered the South African bowling and roared to 92 as Trinidad and Tobago reached a competitive 161 for seven.
The Northern’s run chase was severely restricted by an excellent spell from Gaitri Seetahal who destroyed the batting line-up taking four wickets for nine runs in four overs.
They were reduced to 112 in 18.5 overs with only South Africa’s national player, Captain Mignon du Preez getting into double figures with a top score of 76.
In the second encounter, T and T romped to a 43-run victory after an unbeaten 62 from Britney Cooper.
Cooper, along with 21 from Seetahal, took the team to 135 for six. New comer Samantha Bissoon took two for 12 in three overs to stifle Northerns reply, mustering only 92 for five in their 20 overs. The Trinidadians were expected to face their toughest test yesterday when they play their last two T20 matches on their South African tour against a combined team which represents the entire Highveld Region in South Africa.
