A 56-year-old Blairmont Estate worker of D’ Edward, West Bank Berbice died after he fell while working on punts yesterday morning.
Reports are that Chinalall ‘Shook’ Hemraj, a ‘time hand punt joiner’ was rushed to the estate’s dispensary in an unconscious state.
He was immediately placed in an ambulance and transferred to the Fort Wellington Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Relatives are not sure what exactly transpired but were told that he complained of feeling unwell and collapsed. They are awaiting the post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death.
They told this newspaper that they were shocked at the news because Hemraj never suffered from any medical complaints.
They recalled that on Tuesday afternoon he was tending to his kitchen garden and was planning to spray the grass in the yard when he returned home yesterday.
His wife, Chandini said she received a call around 10:30 am that something was wrong with him and she should go to the dispensary.
Before she could leave home some workers came in a van and said that her husband had already been taken to the hospital in the ambulance.
