Guyoil provided extra fuel for Saturday night’s ‘Fire Storm’ card, pumping $100,000 of sponsorship money to aid in the expenses of the mega event which will be staged at the Princess Hotel.
During a simple ceremony yesterday, Leonard Khan, Guyoil’s Castrol Brand Manager, presented the cheque to president of the Guyana Boxing Board of Control (GBBC), Peter Abdool.
After the presentation, Khan stated:”Guyoil is once again very pleased to support the Guyana Boxing Board of Control with their effort to promote boxing in Guyana. The effort of the GBBC over the years is indeed commendable and we are just happy to be a part of the effort in building this sport by creating opportunities for boxers.”
Abdool expressed his gratitude for the company’s sterling support for not just “Firestorm” but indeed the entire Guyana Fight Night programme.
The GBBC boss re-iterated that the success of the programme is largely due to companies like Guyoil. Abdool also promised that the ‘Fire Storm’ will live up to its name and urged fans not to miss it.
Other sponsors for the card include Digicel, Banks DIH Limited, Assuria Insurance, Ansa McAL, Giftland Office Max and Courts Guyana Inc. Saturday night’s event will be headlined by arguably Guyana best pound-for-pound boxer, Clive ‘The Punisher’ Atwell and Venezuelan knockout artist, Raphael Hernandez for the vacant CABOFE featherweight title.
