The Guyana Squash Association’s ANSA McAl Senior Easter Tournament commenced at the Georgetown Club on Wednesday evening with dominant wins being recorded by the trio of Ashley Khalil, Allan Downes and Ashley deGroot.
Contesting both the male and female division of the tournament, the twenty-year-old Khalil comfortably opened her campaign against former junior national team stalwart and current national hockey member Alysa Xavier, prevailing in straight sets 11/4, 11/2, 11/4.
Taylor Fernandes was no match for deGroot who put on a clinical display to dispose of the emerging junior talent in straight sets by a 11/5, 11/0, 11/1 score line while Downes defeated Matthew Phang in a similar fashion, coasting to victory by a 11/2, 11/7, 11/4 margin.
In the other slated encounters, Alec Melville defeated Avinash Odit 11/7, 11/6, 6/11, 11/3 whilst Medhi Ramdhani overcame Alexander Cheeks 11/3, 11/3, 11/6.
Other top campaigners who will be in competition during this competition include Reagan Pollard, Nicholas Narain, Jason Ray Khalil, Steven Xavier, and Nyron Joseph.
