After Laugh is Cry, a stage production by Kingdom Dynamics, which will feature David Mann (Mr Brown of Tyler Perry’s Meet the Browns fame) is set for May 19 at the National Park.
Launching the event at a press briefing held at Gizmos and Gadgets, Wellington Street earlier this week, the Kingdom Dynamics team revealed that Mann will be accompanied by an eight-member team inclusive of his wife, Tamela Mann, who portrays his daughter Cora in Meet the Browns (the stage play and the film).
Mann is also well known for his roles in such Tyler Perry productions as I Can Do Bad All By Myself (the stage play), Madea’s Family Reunion (the stage play), Madea’s Class Reunion (the stage play), Madea Goes to Jail (the stage play and the film), and Madea’s Big Happy Family (the film).
According to Kingdom Dynamics Operations Manager Leshaun Morgan, the show deals with domestic violence and its name suggests that merriment precedes the epidemic. This production, Morgan said, is not only geared to provide answers but will offer preventative measures.
Ewart Sampson who serves as the company’s Marketing Manager called on all to support this venture as it relates to a critical issue that involves everyone. He mentioned that many businesses and producers are cooperating with Kingdom Dynamics, including Princess Hotel and Casino and Hits and Jams Entertainment. The government through the Ministry of Human Services and Social Security will be assisting the show with concessions and awareness.
Sampson mentioned that this is a non-profit production and proceeds will go to organisations and the Ministry of Human and Social Services to aid in the awareness and prevention of domestic violence. “We are not just identifying what the problem is, but addressing it,” he said.
Guyanese will not be excluded from this production; several local artistes have expressed their interest in opening the show.
Mann and his team will arrive in Guyana on May 18, a day prior to the show, which starts at 8 pm/ 20:00 hrs sharp. Tickets will soon be released around the city, Linden, Bartica and Berbice. Ticket prices include $10,000 – VIP, $5,000 – Stage Front and $2,500 – Regular. Children (below the age of 13) will pay be $5,000 – VIP, $3,000 – Stage Front and $1,000 – Regular.
Kingdom Dynamics said the gates will be opened from 4 pm/16:00 hrs and patrons must be seated at least one hour before the show commences.
