Demerara secured first innings points over defending champions Berbice when the third and final round of the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) Under 15 tournament continued at the Georgetown Cricket Club ground (GCC) yesterday.
Demerara, sent in, reached 151-6 off of their allotted 38 overs with
Timothy Mc Almont’s 41 the top score while Stephan Campbell made 28 and Cleon McEwan, 26.
Joel Seetaram picked up 3 for 42.
Berbice, in reply, were 111 for the loss of 8 wickets in their allotted 38 overs.
Adrian Sukwah made 45 while Steve Deonarine made 17 and Matthew Hardial, 15 not out.
Ashmead Nedd claimed 3 for 30 off 14 overs while Keshram Shewpersaud and Ronaldo Mohamed picked up two wickets each.
Demerara in their second innings extended the lead to 75, closing on 35 without loss at the end of 11 overs.
Skipper Bhaskar Yadram retired hurt on 16 after a collision with bowler Seetaram, Stephan Campbell (14) and Jaddel McAlister (2) were left not out.
Over at the Demerara Cricket Club ground (DCC) the President’s XI gained first inning points against Essequibo.
Essequibo won the toss and chose to field only to see the President’s XI reach 156 for 4 in their 38 overs.
Openers Raymond Perez and Darshan Persaud stroked 47 and 36 runs respectively while vice-captain Vickram Talmakund contributed with 36 also.
Essequibo’s Besham Moses snapped up all four wickets for 49 runs from 10 overs.
In reply Essequibo was reduced to 85 for 8 in their 38 overs. Skipper Christopher Latchman (23) and Azimul Khan finished not out on 16.
Richie Lucknauth grabbed 3 for 24 from 13 overs while Darshan Persaud and Vickram Talmakund picked up two wickets each.
The President’s XI in their second innings reached 26/0 from 10 overs.
