Former National champion Ransford Goodluck maintained a narrow lead in ‘X’ Class after the second day of competition in the National Rifle Shooting championships yesterday at the Timehri Rifle ranges.
The national shooters were in action at the 300 and 500 yards ranges.
Goodluck shot a possible 35 points with 5Vs at 600 yards and 48.7 at 300 yards to finish with an overall score of 214 points and 19Vs and second day score of 83.12.
National captain Mahendra Persaud and reigning Caribbean individual champion Lennox Braithwaite follow closely with 213 points but Persaud was the second day winner with 84 points and 3Vs.
Persaud also shot a possible 50 points with 3 Vs at 300 yards and 34.0 at 600 to compete the day on 84 points and an overall 213 points with 18Vs.
Braithwaite shot 49.6 at 300 and 34.2 at 600 to end the day of 83.8 and overall 213.18.
National vice captain Dylan Fields recorded 48.1 and 31.3 at 300 and 600 yards respectively to finish the day on 79.9 and an overall score of 202.10.
Ryan Sampson ended the day of 77.2 with scores of 45.2 and 32.0 over the two ranges for an overall score of 192.
Dane Blair accumulated 186.8 over two days after he shot 39.2 and 32.2 for 71.4 – second day score. Lt.Col Terrance Stuart maintained his lead in ‘O’ Class with 198 points and 4 Vs following scores of 46.2 and 32.1 for a second day score of 78.3.
Leo Romalho climbed to second position with 197.9 with scores of 44.0 and 34.2 (78.2).
Charles Deane recorded an overall 193.13 with scores of 42.3 and 32.2 for a second day score of 74.5.
Peter Persaud overall score is 191.4. He shot 44.2 and 32.1 to end day two on 76.3 while Everad Nelson trailed with 146.4 with scores of 28.0 and 23.1 on day two.
The competition continues today with competition at 300, 500 and 1000 yards starting at 10:00 hours.
