At about 0045h today, police say that Troy Adams, 40 years, of Norton Street, Georgetown, was at Camp Street and North Road, Georgetown, when he was confronted by two men armed with handguns.
Police say that the men discharged rounds in his direction hitting him to his back as he tried to escape and also hitting taxi-driver Ian Sampson, 32 years, of East La Penitence, Georgetown, who was standing by his motor vehicle in the vicinity, to his right shoulder.
The injured men have been admitted to hospital for medical treatment.
Investigations are in progress.
