Following their victory over Den Amstel in the final of the West Demerara Football Association Trophy Stall U17 tournament winners
Stewartville’s Eagles United FC on Saturday received their trophies and medals during a simple presentation held at the Den Amstel Community Centre Ground.
In a memorable final held a few weeks prior, defending champions Den Amstel were stunned by their lesser favoured opponents who held their nerves during sudden death penalty kicks after regulation time and penalty kicks failed to produce a winner.
Presenting the championship trophy and medals to the champs was Trophy Stalls Sales Representative Leroy Jack who complimented the Eagles unit for pulling off a major upset.
Jack, on behalf of Manager of Trophy Stall, Ramesh Sunich, pledged the entity’s continued support for the development of the game in West Demerara.
The victorious Eagles FC captain Ezekiel Cox was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the tournament while Den Amstel’s Gavin Graham was awarded the golden boot for scoring the most goals in the competition. Rockey Reddy also of the victorious Eagles FC was the recipient of the golden glove award.
Den Amstel collected a trophy and medals for their second place while Bagotsville/Nismes also received a trophy for winning the third place game, trouncing Wales 3-0.
