Trinity Grid Holding (TGH) Pacesetters were crowned Guyana Amateur Basketball Association (GABA) division-one league champions despite falling to Ravens 73-58 at the outdoor Burnham Basketball Court, Middle Street Sunday night.
Sporting a perfect 7-0 record and having an unassailable 14 points prior to jump ball, Pacesetters were outshot by Ravens dynamic duo of Akeem Kanhai and Ryan Stephney who scored 26 and 18 points respectively.
Travis Burnett netted 18 points in a losing cause for the eventual champions.
In the clash for the number two spot, Colts defeated Pepsi Sonics 72-64 mainly due to a combined 42-point effort from Shelroy Thomas and Dane Kendall.
Both Kendall and Thomas scored 20 points while Jason Squires’ game-high 24 four points could not save Pepsi Sonics from being relegated to third sport.
Republic Bank Nets compliments of a Dorian Lewis’s 14-point effort, defeated Panthers 69-60 in a clash of the mid table teams.
Yannick December scored 14 points for the losing Panthers unit while in the lone third-division encounter, Eagles, powered by a Quincy Easton 21-point effort, edged the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) 80 to 76.
