Traffic Chief Superintendent Hugh Denhert is currently in Florida, USA attending a Road Safety Seminar hosted by the International Road Federation.
The Guyana Police Force said in a press release yesterday that the seminar: ‘Safer Road by Design Across Six Continents 11’ ends on April 30. It began on April 21.
The release said the road safety training programme consists of topical issues which will assist in the better appreciation and understanding of the technical aspects of roadside safety, work zone safety, vulnerable user safety, traffic management and road safety audits.
It stated that the training is designed to be able to assist the Guyana Police Force, and other stakeholders, in the planning and implementation of strategies and programmes with the objective of improving the consciousness of road users about the importance of using the roads correctly and making the country’s roads safer, while at the same time gaining exposure to best practices and state of the art technologies in road safety that are being used globally.
“The Guyana Police Force is continually seeking to access available training opportunities, both locally and overseas, in keeping with the thrust of its Strategic Plan and with the view to enhance capacity building and improve the quality of service,” the release added.
