Wolf’s Warriors were crowned male champions and took away the top prize of $500,000 along with bragging rights as the Digital Technology/Chow Pow 10/10 champions while Regal Champs copped the female award and carted off $150,000 when the competition ended recently.
Wolf’s Warriors trounced Superstars by 117 runs. Batting first Wolf’s Warriors piled up 201-4 in their 10 overs.
Azad Azeez slammed a brutal 100 off 29 balls, which included eight monster sixes and six fours while Amit Rae supported with 38 off 11 balls.
Marvin Babb picked up 2-40 off 2 overs. Super Stars were reduced 84-1 in their ten overs. Narine Bailey, Vishnu Tannechandra, Devenand and Diaram Persaud combined their efforts with the ball.
Regal Champs defeated Trophy Stall Angels by 6 wickets. The Angels won the toss and elected to bat scoring108 for 6 in their 10 overs.
Skipper June Ogle top scored with 45 from 25 balls, while Roxanne Demoniac’s cameo of 27 required just 9 deliveries.
Opposition Skipper Nalini Sumintra grabbed 3 for 18 from 2 overs. In reply, Regal cruised to 109-4 in 9.3 overs. Dawn Nichols 18-ball half-century set up a convincing win for the Angels.
Speedboat XI defeated Recharge by 89 runs in the third place playoff.
Speedboat XI won the toss and elected to bat chalking up 118 for 3 in their 10 overs.
All-rounder Safraz Esau smashed 40 off 18 balls and found support from Shazim Hussain who chipped in with 39 from 20 deliveries. Recharge quickly succumbed to a miserable 29-8 in their 10 overs.
Hostile bowling from Greg Singh and Shazim Hussain who shared two wickets each for three runs respectively did the damage for Speedboat.
4R copped third place spot in the female category as a result of their superior run rate in the earlier stages of the competition after the game failed to take place due to soggy playing conditions.
The second phase of the series is slated for May and will be held on the East Coast Demerara with more incentives and a bigger entertainment package planned.
