Martin De Freitas, accused of being one of three men who held up a truck driver at gun-point at Linden, was yesterday remanded to prison on a charge of armed robbery.
De Freitas, 27, of 231 Victory Valley, Wismar, Linden, was accused of robbing John Seon on April 24 of $10,000 cash, a Sony Ericson phone valued $120,000, and three pennyweights of raw gold valued $36,000, all totaling $166,000.
According to Police Corporal Vinetta Pindar, De Freitas along with two other individuals approached Seon with a handgun and proceeded to relieve him of the articles mentioned in the charge.
Pindar added that the men made good their escape but Seon later identified De Freitas as one of the men who robbed him, resulting in the charge.
The matter continues on Monday.
De Freitas was not required to plea to the indictable charge when it was read to him by Magistrate Fabayo Azore at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
