The Sky’s Wild Noise: Selected Essays, by Dr Rupert Roopnaraine, which won the Bocas Caribbean Literature Fest 2013 prize for Non Fiction, was launched yesterday at Moray House, Quamina Street.
The book contains essays that range from topics such as politics, literature, visual arts, social commentaries and memoirs among others, and encompasses stories about Guyana and the wider Caribbean.
Essays on Dr Cheddi Jagan, Walter Rodney, Philip Moore, Martin Carter and other scholars can also be found in the 394 pages of the book.
Excerpts were read from various essays by several persons including activist Vidya Kissoon, artist Akima McPherson, Major General (rtd) Joe Singh and the writer.
The book was published by Peepal Tree Press in the United Kingdom last December. Persons who are interested in purchasing a copy can do so at Austin’s Book Store where it is currently on sale.
