Dear Editor,
In light of what took place over weekend the relevant authorities need to assess whether our seawall, as it is, is capable of protecting us given that sea levels are expected to rise in the future.
Flooding can severely hinder development and growth and we cannot afford to wait until it’s too late to take the measures necessary to prevent it. Research needs to be done to determine the risks of flooding and how rising sea levels would affect us.
Only after this would we know what actions to take to counter this threat.
