Great Britain’s David Calvert was in superb form and ended the first day of the Goodwill rifle shooting series against local rifle shooters at the Timehri Rifle Ranges in the lead.
Calvert shot possibles at both the 300 and 900 yards yesterday to be in sole possession of the lead after two rounds.
Competing at the 300 yard range, Calvert shot a 50 with eight V bulls and returned to shot 50 and five V bulls at 900 yards for a grand total of 100 with 13 v bulls.
Occupying the second position was Ryland Thomas who also shot a possible at 300 yards with eight V bulls and 49 with five V bulls at 900 yards for a grand total of 99 with 13 V bulls. Third position was also occupied by another British shooter in John Underwood who shot a possible at 300 yards with eight V bulls but only managed 46 at 900 yards with three v bulls for a grand aggregate of 96 and 11 v bulls.
Guyana ‘s top shooter was Lennox Braithwaite who shot 48 with three V Bulls at 300 yards and 48 with four V bulls at 900 yards for a grand total of 96 and seven V bulls.
Deborah Fenn of Great Britain occupied the fifth position and Ransford Goodluck sixth.
Fenn shot 48 and three V bulls at both the 300 and 900 yard ranges while Goodluck shot 46 with one V bull at 300 yards and 49 with three V bulls t 900 yards for a grand total of 95 and four V bulls.
The competition continues today with action in the 500 and 600 yard ranges.
