Great Britain’s David Calvert yesterday won the individual shooting competition at the Timehri Rifle Ranges.
Calvert, who led after the first day’s shooting at 300 and 900 yards, yesterday shot possible at 500 and 600yards and added a 49 at the 1000 yard range to pip teammate Ryland Thomas by one point.
Calvert ended with an overall aggregate of 249 and 34 V bulls to edge out Thomas who ended on 248 and 28 V Bulls.
Like Calvert, Thomas too shot possible at 500 and 600 yards and added a 49 at the 100 yard range.
Third was Guyana’s Lennox Braithwaite who ended on 245 and 24 V Bulls. Braithwaite yesterday shot possible (50) at the 500 and 600 yards but slipped to 47 at the 100 yard range.
The other three places were occupied by John Underwood, (243-29) Deborah Fenn (242-19) and Ransford Goodluck of Guyana (242-15).
Underwood shot possible at 500 and 600 yards and shot 47 at the 100 yard while Fenn shot 49 and 49 at 500 and 600 and 48 at 100 yards. Goodluck dropped a shot at each round ending with 49 at all three ranges.
The team event is expected to take place today.
