The Guyana Boxing Association (GBA) wants to send a team of boxers to Cuba to participate in two tournaments there.
This was disclosed by president of the association Steve Ninvalle earlier this week.
According to the GABA head, the association has selected a team with the “possibility of travelling to Cuba in June for one month to compete in two international competitions, the Cardina Carova from the fourth to the 11 and the Robert Balado from the 16th to the 22nd.
“However, before these competitions there will be a training stint so the boxers will be there from maybe from June 2, they will be there for approximately one month and over 15 territories will be participating in those competitions, ” he added.
“If we seriously want to compete on the world stage then we seriously have to compete in competitions such as those because we cannot be competing among ourselves in Guyana all the time and expect to win, so if we are serious about Brazil we have to make sure our fighters get some exposure.”
The boxers Imran Khan, Stephon Gouveia, Ron Smith, Eon Bancroft, Dennis Thomas and lone female, Theresa London will be traveling to Cuba in early June to compete in two international competitions.
