A baby boy, believed to be new born was yesterday morning discovered abandoned at the Albion koker on the Corentyne.
Stabroek News understands that the baby was found by a koker attendant who was in the area and a report was made to the police.
According to reports, the baby was taken to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital by public-spirited citizens.
Dr Vishalie Sharma, Medical Superintendent of the New Amsterdam Hospital yesterday afternoon confirmed that the hospital had indeed admitted a baby. She said the baby was in the Paediatric Ward under observation.
Meanwhile, a source from the hospital said that the doctor who is tending to infant, has restricted anyone from visiting the new-born baby, who the source described as a “miracle baby boy”.
Stabroek News also understands that the police are looking for the parents of the infant.
