Traffic Chief Superintendent Hugh Denhert escaped unhurt yesterday after his vehicle collided with a minibus early yesterday morning at Little Abary, East Coast Demerara.
According to a police press release, Denhert was proceeding along the roadway which was wet and with an oil slick on the surface when he collided with a minibus travelling in the opposite direction, while negotiating a turn.
No one was injured.
Reports have been received that several damage accidents occurred yesterday morning in the same area due to the oil on the road surface, police said.
Denhert recently returned from Florida, USA where he was attending a Road Safety Seminar hosted by the International Road Federation. The seminar ended on April 30.
