Linden Bauxite Flyers Cycling Club (LBFCC) dominated at the second edition of the Baker’s Memorial Cycling Classic which was held last Sunday around the Amelia’s Ward Circuit, Linden.
John Charles of the LBFCC carted off the feature event at the Classic winning the Men’s 30 laps ahead of Romelo Crawford and his club-mate, Rastaf O’Selmo; Hamazah Eastman crossed the finish line in fourth position.
LBFCC’s riders, Akeem Arthur, Orville Hinds and Shaquel Agard rode away with the Unknown Distance Event, to take the top prizes in the race.
Hinds returned in the Category 1&2 Racing Cycle which comprised 9 laps, to better his previous performance, winning the event. O’Selmo finished second again. Carlton Wheeler’s Albert Philander came in third.
LBFCC continued their winning ways as Delroy Hinds and Gordon Sampson finished in first and second place respectively in the 6 laps 3&4 Racing Cycle ahead of Flying Star’s Akeem Wilkinson.
Romelo Crawford pedalled off with the Juvenile 2 laps Racing Cycle leaving Jornel Yearwood of LBFCC and Alfie Sonaram of Flying Star behind in second and third.
The Mountain Bike Race (4 laps) was won by Josea Mc Aulay; second place was claimed by Clyde Jacobs and third by Stephano Husband.
Winning the Junior Racing Cycle 6 laps event was Akeem Arthur, Shaquel Agard and Hamzah Eastman took the runner-up positions.
Jaheme Henry, Britton John, and Makel Diaz were winners of the BMX 6-9 (1 lap), 9-12 (1 lap) and 12-14 (2 laps) races respectively.
Georgetown’s Virgil Jones claimed the Veteran Over-50 5 laps ahead of LBFCC’s Lance Rose and Dwayne Ramsay. Kennard Lovell was the Veteran U-50 victor.
LBFCC’s Hazina Bharrat displayed her talent in the Female 3 laps Racing Cycle ahead of her opponents after a late start.
Bharrat came from behind to win the event ahead of Marcia Dick of Berbice and Tushanna Doris.
The team time trials 2 laps event was won by LBFCC; Flying Stars paced behind for second as Team Robin was third.
The event’s main sponsors were Guyana Sports Development Foundation (GSDF), Banks DIH Ltd and Colin Baker.
