Three Officers and 30 Other Ranks of the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) participated in the Health Walk hosted by the Ministry of Health last Sunday in Georgetown for the commencement of National Laboratory Professionals Week (April 21 to 27). The GDF said in a statement that its contingent included the Base Commander, Base Camp Ayanganna, Lieutenant Colonel Brian Bristol; Officer Commanding, GDF Medical Corps (GMC), Major Greasels Hinckson; GMC Laboratory Manager Bonita Richards; Programme Manager of the GDF HIV/AIDS Prevention Programme Beverly Lovell; the GMC laboratory staff; members of GDF Band Corps; and other soldiers. They joined laboratory professionals from all over Guyana for the activity, which commenced at approximately 6:30am and proceeded from the Bank of Guyana and concluded at the GDF Sports ground. The GDF said its Medical Corps laboratory, which was recently refurbished and fitted with newly-acquired equipment, offers a range of laboratory services in support of the Medical Corps’ tasks, related to interrogating and managing the health and wellness of the force’s officers and ranks.
