Shakespeare enthusiasts and students who will be sitting English Literature at the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) examinations can enjoy William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream at the Theatre Guild.
It opened yesterday and will run until Monday.
Director Malcolm DeFreitas made a special call to students who will be writing the examinations to view the production.
A Midsummer Night’s Dream portrays three interlocking plots surrounding marriage and complicated unions, the adventures and endeavours of four young Athenian mates and a group of actors who are manipulated and tricked by fairies in a mystical fairyland forest where most of the play is set.
Starring in the Guyanese production are: Randolph Critchlow, Mark Luke-Edwards, Shameeza Wong, Sonia Yarde, Keon Heywood, Latoya Kellman, Nelon Benjamin, Nickose Layne, Radiante Frank, Jamal La Rose, Kim Fernandes, Clinton Duncan, Sean Thompson and others.
Tickets cost $100 and are available at the Theatre Guild or from cast members.
