On a night highlighted by close finishes Albouystown ‘B’ through second half goals defeated Kingstown two goals to nil as the 2013 Mackeson ‘Keep Your Five Alive’ Street Football competition continued at the Punt Trench and School Street Tarmac, Albouystown on Saturday.
The home side took the lead in the 10th minute compliments of a Devon Forde strike while Roy Samuels consolidated his team’s position four minutes later through a 14th minute conversion.
In the opening encounter of the vesper Rasville ‘A’ defeated Middle East on penalties after regulation time was unable to separate the two sides who were scoreless while West Back Road defeated Bent Street 1-0 compliments of a Ned Fraser second half effort in the thirteenth minute.
Island All-Stars were defeated by Rastas on penalties after both teams were unable to be separated during a scoreless regulation period and Alexander Village powered by a Shem Porter brace in the fourth and 10th minute edged Charlotte Street 2-1. Devon Charles was on target for Charlotte Street in the seventh minute.
North East defeated Middle Road on penalties after regulation time found both teams locked at one apiece. Jermaine “Panky” Junior gave Middle Road the early lead through a third minute strike while S. Brown equalized for North East in the seventh minute.
Team L.A. defeated House Street via spot kicks. Gregory ‘Jackie Chan’ Richardson scored in the fifth minute for Team L.A. whilst Dillon Kelly leveled proceedings for House Street in the sixth minute and River View booked their place in the next round as they overcame Leopold Street on penalty kicks after regulation time was unable to find a winner with the scores locked at nil all.
The event which is being held under the moniker “Your skill, your style, your five, your stout” will be contested at several venues in Georgetown with the winning team taking home $300,000 and runner-up $150,000 in cash prize and trophies.
