St. George’s High School powered by an Okeri Codrington double defeated Bishops’ High School 6-1 as the Scotiabank/Pepsi Schools Football Academy continued at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue yesterday.
Codrington scored in the 14th minute with a left foot shot from the right flank of the field that caught the Bishops’ High School custodian off guard.
Bishops’ High quickly regained their composure and replied with an equalizer exactly one minute after through a Darin Chan goal in the fifteen minute.
Ozeal Small, who is known for netting at least two goals during a game, kicked in his only goal in the 17th minute to give St. George’s the 2-1 lead. Bishops’ made several attempts to equalize but the St. George’s custodian was as solid as a rock between the uprights.
St George’s account was credited with another goal by Codrington in the twenty-third minute, sealing the score-line at 3-1 at half time.
Upon resumption, St. George’s High through Adolph George, Jamal Nelson and Joshua Williams added three more goals in the thirty-first, thirty-seventh and fifty-seventh minutes to complete the rout.
North Georgetown Secondary crushed New Campbellville Secondary 7-2 compliments of two goals each by Joshua Ferreira and Lansdale George in the fifteen, forty-fifth, thirty-second and fifty-fourth minutes respectively in the first match.
Daniel Nedd and Nehemiah Gomes contributed with their goals in the fortieth and sixty-sixth minutes for the winning side. Emanuel Pross also had a double for North Georgetown in twelfth and forty-forth minutes of play while Trevor Pluck netted in the twenty-sixth minute.
On Saturday, Christ Church demolished Tucville Secondary 12-1 with Andre Trotz netting five goals in the tenth, thirty, fifty-fifth, sixtieth and sixty-seventh minutes in the lone male encounter.
A hat trick by Brad Evans in the nineteenth, twenty-sixth and seventieth minutes and a double by Jovontay Bess in the twelfth and fourteen minutes added to the score line. Tyrece Tanner and Kelon Jack also recorded goals in the fortieth and forty-four minutes respectively.
On target for Tucville was Tyrese Duncan who netted in the twenty-seventh minute.
In the lone female encounter, Tutorial High defeated North Georgetown 2-0 compliments of a Shekela Frazer double in the fiftieth and sixtieth minutes.
