A teenager on Saturday escaped from the Rose Hall Town lockups sometime around noon.
Reports reaching Stabroek News revealed that the 16-year-old of Haswell, Port Mourant, Corentyne escaped whilst an officer was delivering lunch to another inmate who was in the same cell.
The teen reportedly pushed open the door, knocked the officer down and made his getaway.
At the time of the incident, the officer who was delivering the lunch was the lone officer present at the lockups.
The teen had been arrested on Friday for the possession of narcotics. He was to make an appearance at the Albion Magistrate’s Court today.
The teen had been picked up by lawmen in the Portuguese Quarters, after he was seen acting in a suspicious manner.
