Police will today be seeking advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) in relation to laying of charges against the mother of five who allegedly fatally stabbed a man after he made sexual advances towards her at the Barnwell Squatting Area, East Bank Demerara on Saturday.
When contacted yesterday, Crime Chief Seelall Persaud said that it is unclear at this point if and when she will be charged as the police will have to seek legal advice on the way forward.
He said also that a post-mortem examination on the deceased, Mark Anthony Fredericks is expected to be done today.
Based on the reports received by this newspaper, sometime early Saturday morning the two were drinking in the Mocha Squatting area when 33 year old Fredericks made sexual advances towards the woman. The woman said to be age 27 rejected the man’s advances and stabbed him with a kitchen knife in the process.
After being stabbed the man went home. His mother Rita Fredericks told reporters that when she returned to their home she saw him with a cut on the left side of his stomach and she tried cleaning it.
She advised him to seek medical assistance but he refused. He died at home several hours later.
