Dear Editor,
One of the main reasons that the current budget means something to me, is the questionable manner in which former president Jagdeo’s administration, and now President Ramotar’s regime have been showing media bias, and more particularly, apparent favouritism in the granting of licences for radio stations and cable channels to operate in Guyana.
I was impressed and inspired by the opposition to this, and the advocacy which is continuing around this very sensitive issue that is a pivot of human rights in Guyana.
Editor, the fact that this impasse is being prolonged, demonstrates the stubborn and dictatorial tendencies of the present regime; those tendencies have to be persistently matched with solidarity protests at local, regional and international levels, until change is achieved.
