Dear Editor,
Earlier this year President Ramotar is reported to have said that he was still open to compromise with the opposition. More recently the President took the position that he would take legal action to restore budget cuts to the 2013 budget applied by the majority of members of the National Assembly. Compromise? Not yet. Maybe on the 2014 budget.
The Chinese have a saying, “Some people say they can set fire to water; we Chinese prefer to wait and see.” President Ramotar should indicate soon on what issues he contemplates making compromises or will he attempt to “set fire to water.” If the latter, we Guyanese will “will wait and see.” But for how long? Until rigor mortis? Or some time before? The answer lies with the President on the one hand and the People on the other.
Yours faithfully,
