Dear Editor,
The Minister of Natural Resources and the Environment has made it clear via a press release that he has cancelled the Marudi Mountain mining lottery. What he did not state was what the fate of the one hundred and more persons who already won blocks in the same location would be.
The Minister owes these persons the same consideration as the Amerindians of the South Rupununi, and should, at the very least, issue a press release at the earliest possible time to let these winners know of his decision pertaining to them, for many are now uncertain of their future.
It is hoped that his genuine concern for all affected by his decision results in him making a decision that is also favourable to these one hundred plus people.
Yours faithfully,
