NASSAU, Bahamas, CMC- Jamaica was blown away by El Salvador, 7-2, in their opening match of the CONCACAF Beach Soccer Championship in Nassau, Bahamas, on Wednesday.
Two goals each from Walter Torres, Augutin Ruiz and Frank Velasquez and one from Elmer Robles sealed the victory for the Central Americans.
Gregory Simpson and Phillip Peddie scored Jamaica’s consolation goals.
The victory puts El Salvador ahead in group C and a new victory on Sunday would get them into the semifinals.
In other games USA beat Guatemala 5-2 while host Bahamas crushed Puerto Rico 9-1.
The top-two teams at the end of the five-day play-offs will represent CONCACAF at the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup at theTo’ata Stadium in Papeete, Tahiti, from September 18-28.
