Mary Fung-A-Fat, one of the most decorated junior squash players locally made light work of Taylor Fernandes on Thursday evening as the Guyana Squash Association, Woodpecker Products Limited-sponsored national junior championships continued at the Georgetown Club.
Fung-A-Fat, a four-time Caribbean junior champion and Caribbean U-19 champion defeated Fernandes 11-3, 11-3, 11-1 while Caribbean Under-19 runner-up Ashley De Groot secured an emphatic win over Kristina Cheeks 11-0, 11-1, 11-2.
And in a rare case of sibling rivalry, former Caribbean Under-15 champion Akeila Wiltshire was taken to four games by sister Larissa Wiltshire before emerging with an 11-5,11-6,11-13,11-3.
In the male category, Nyron Joseph comfortably defeated former Caribbean Under 13 champion Ben Mekdeci 11-7,11-3,12-10.
