World Junior silver medalist Kadecia Baird was beaten by Columbia College’s Olivia Baker in the Women’s 400m dash at the 46th Annual Glenn D. Loucks Games , White Plains High, New York.
The Medgar Evers athlete, who has the meet record at 52.62 seconds (2012) recorded 53.69 seconds and settled for second place in her pet event behind Baker’s winning time of 53.66s. Garden City’s Emma Gallagher was third with 55.34 seconds.
Baird’s coach, Shaun Dietz, who told Stabroek Sport on Friday that Baird resumed training after losing 15lbs, said that his athlete is feeling better from the stomach virus, “She’s feeling fine! Only a bit thinner,” Dietz disclosed.
“Baird rebounded back nicely after all she has been through…this might be her best race considering everything,” he said.
The 2013 Carifta Games bronze medalist (400m) retuned in the Women’s 200m after her defeat to register 24.98 seconds, to easily win ahead of Quashira McIntosh and Kimberely Bailey who had 25.07 seconds and 25.10 seconds respectively.
According to Dietz, Baird is registered to compete next weekend at the Brooklyn Borough Championship.
