NEW ROAD, Worcester (CMC) – West Indies batsman Ramnaresh Sarwan hit 79, his highest score of the season, as Leicestershire drew their Division Two County match with Worcestershire on Saturday.
The right-hander, who skippers the four-day side, resumed the day on 46 with Leicestershire on 229 for two in response to the hosts’ first innings total of 320.
Overall, Sarwan faced 187 balls in three hours and 51 minutes at the crease, striking ten fours and a six – a clean hit over long on off left-arm spinner Shaaiq Choudhry.
He was eventually fifth out, skying a catch off off-spinner Moeen Ali with Leicestershire in sight of first innings points at 287 for five.
Nineteen-year-old Shiv Thakor then stroked an unbeaten 52 from to see the visitors to their target, and a lead of 59.
Worcestershire were 61 one for one in their second innings as they game petered out into a tame draw.
