George, the 2013 CARIFTA Games 1500m gold medalist, impressed with a phenomenal run in the girls U-16 1000m.
The Lindener, who attends Wismar/Christiansburg Secondary School, clocked 3:40.00 seconds while her namesake and schoolmate, Cassie Kirton clocked 4:00 seconds for second place.
Police Progressive Youth Club’s (PPYC) Tabitha Bowman was third in 4:18.24 seconds.
CARIFTA Games 200m bronze medalist and Mercury Fast Laners (MFL) track star Tirana Mitchell, snatched the U-18 girls 100m from Onasha Rogers clocking 12.43 seconds. Rogers, who clocked 12.94 seconds, exploded out of the blocks ahead of Mitchell who was left in her wake.
Mitchell, however switched gears after the first 60m and eventually blew past Rogers. Mearisha Carter clocked a slow 13.94 seconds for third place.
Kevin Ramlall, winner of the 2011 boys’ U-16 150m, clocked 11.65 seconds ahead of PPYC’s Emanuel Sancho’s 11.94 seconds to win the boys U18 100m.
The male U16 80m event was won by Marcus Habercome of Enmore in 10.12 seconds with Dequan Liverpool, 10.64 seconds and George Jacobs, 11.39 seconds second and third respectively.
Shanice Singh of PPYC won the female version from Cassey Small, 12.24 seconds and Cheryl Kingston, 12.74 seconds respectively.
Compton Caesar claimed a double in the boys’ U16 150m and long jump events. Caesar fired around the bend on the track and clocked 16.09 seconds ahead of Racquel Hughes and Shathel Caesar who clocked 17.72 seconds and 18.37 seconds respectively.
He then returned to leap 5.86m to comfortably defeat Liverpool and Tremain Brown who had best leaps of 5.51m and 4.92m.
The girls’ 150m was won by Onasha Rogers. The up and coming sprinter clocked 18.23 seconds to defeat Shanice Singh 19.41 seconds and Kerry Sutherland 20.22 seconds who were second and third respectively.
PPYC’s Onika Eastman clocked 1:05.89 seconds in the U18 girls’ 400m while seasoned junior distance athlete Orlando Adams won the boys U16 1000m in 2:58.34 seconds.
Quarter-mile and CARIFTA bronze medalist Jason Yaw threw the javelin 38.8m to defeat George Jacobs 27. 4m and Fenton Merits (21m) in the boys’ U18 event while Tina Daniels won the U-16 girls discus ahead of CWSS Shirley Kingston 13.04m and Cassey George 9.53m. The long jump saw Kerry Sutherland winning the event with her 4.66m leap.
CWSS retained the IAAF Schools Championship trophy.
