Leon Yaw’s first half double enabled Alexander Village to defeat North East 3-0 when the Mackeson ‘Keep Your Five Alive’ football tournament continued at the East Ruimveldt Community Centre Ground (California Square) Saturday night.
Alexander Village took the early lead when Yaw netted in the fifth minute and they quickly doubled the lead when Yaw scored his second goal one minute later.
Three minutes later Quincy Bourne netted his team’s final goal which put the outcome beyond doubt.
In another encounter, Riverview edged Team LA 3-2 on penalties with the score locked at one all at the end of regulation time. Daniel Favourite gave Team LA the lead through a 13th minute strike before Riverview restored parity to proceedings compliments of 19th minute Quacy Weekes’ effort.
Sophia Wolves, through a Ray Cole 10th minute effort defeated West Back Road 1-0 while Liliendaal upset Albouystown by the identical score line compliments of an Akeem Saul 12th minute strike.
Laing Avenue edged Tiger Bay ‘A’ 6-5 on sudden death kicks as regulation time was unable to separate the two sides. Anthony Clifton gave Laing Avenue the early lead in the eight minute whilst Tiger Bay ‘A’ equalised through a Jamal Blackman 10th minute conversion.
Broad Street ‘A’ overcame Rastas 3-2 on penalty kicks with both units failing to score in normal time.
Action continues on the Thursday at the same venue.
