Marian Academy, led by a Dale Beresford 14-point effort, edged Charlestown Secondary 37-33 in their U-20 encounter as action in the Youth Basketball Guyana’s (YBG) National School Basketball Festival (NSBF) Georgetown Conference continued with four fixtures at the Marian Academy Court, Carifesta Avenue on Saturday.
Beresford recorded six steals to go with his game-high scoring haul.
Murthland Ward had a monster game for Charlestown Secondary with a double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds.
In other results Plaisance, powered by a Nikkolai Smith’s 15-point haul defeated President’s College 34-27 in their U-20 matchup. Wesley Forde added 12 points for the victors. Devon Warren and Nyambekiria Bacchus scored 10 and nine points respectively for President’s College.
In the U-17 division, St. Rose’s High School defeated Bishops’ High 24-19. Anference Jeruis led all scorers with 14 points. He also effected seven steals while Daniel Ramlagan netted six points for the Carmichael Street unit.
Marian Academy, marshalled by a Judah Stephney 12-point effort, beat Brickdam Secondary 36-22 in the final U-17 fixture of the Georgetown Conference. Contributing five steals on the defensive end for the Carifesta Avenue unit, Stephney got ample support from team mate Christopher Joao who netted 10 points. Joshua Lee led the Brickdam effort with 12 points.
In the Ancient County Conference played at the Port Mourant Training School Court, Berbice on Friday, JC Chandisingh Secondary pummelled Lower Corentyne Secondary 40-12. Kevin Deolall led all scorers with 13 points for the victorious JC Chandising unit. Zevon Hurst netted eight points for Lower Corentyne.
