ST.JOHN’S, Antigua, CMC-Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda Baldwin Spencer says he is backing new West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) President Dave Cameron to advance the sport in the region.
Prime Minister Spencer underlined his confidence in the new WICB president after wide-ranging talks between the two leaders in the Antiguan Capital.
Spencer, who is also the chairman of Caricom’s Prime Ministerial Sub-Committee on Cricket, says cricket will benefit from Cameron’s track record in management and his years of experience with the WICB.
Prime Minister Spencer also sought clarification and information on several cricketing matters which he said were of concern to him and his Caricom colleagues.
The meeting came ahead of discussions planned for later this year among members of the WICB and Heads of Caricom on the way forward for Caribbean cricket.
President Cameron and Vice-President Emmanuel Nanthan were accompanied by WICB Director Enoch Lewis, WICB CEO Michael Muirhead and President of the Antigua and Barbuda Cricket Association Zorol Bartley.
During his recent visit to Antigua, President Cameron also held an extensive meeting with the management and staff of the WICB at their headquarters located in St. John’s.
