Guyanese Purnash Durgaprasad, who is famous for being the first West Indian and only Guyanese to have participated in Sa Re Ga Ma Pa International, will perform at the Rahat Fateh Ali Khan Concert taking place on June 9, at the Guyana National Stadium.
According to a press release, Purnash was born and raised in Guyana and began singing at the age of nine when he won first prize for male vocal at the Kala Utsav. After moving to the US, where he trained for many years in the art of Indian Classical music, Purnash entered Zee TV’s Sa Re Ga Ma Pa International and went on to become a top ten finalist.
He has been added to the list of other local Guyanese talent opening for the world-renowned ‘King of Sufi Music’, the release added.
It said Elite Entertainment, in collaboration with international promoter Portfolio Marketing and Events (PME) and in association with Dave Imports, was extremely excited to have Ustad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan perform for the very first time in Guyana.
