Marian Academy defeated Georgetown Technical Institute (GTI) 40-32 in their U-20 matchup as action in the Youth Basketball Guyana’s (YBG) National Schools Basketball Festival (NSBF) Georgetown Conference continued with three fixtures at the Marian Academy Court, Carifesta Avenue yesterday.
Selvaughn Mosley led the Marian attack with 14 points and six rebounds while team mate Dales Beresford netted eight points. Darroll Williams and Rolston Richmond scored 14 and seven points respectively for GTI.
In the U-17 encounter, Bishops’ High defeated Brickdam Secondary 25-16. Matthew Budrah contributed six points and five rebounds in the victory while Joshua Lee led all scorers for Brickdam with six points.
Marian Academy, led by a Jonathan Mangra all-round effort edged Plaisance Secondary 18-17. Mangra netted six points and grabbed five rebounds while Moses Matthews scored seven points and registered two steals for Plaisance.
In the Ancient County Conference played at the Port Mourant Training School Court, Berbice on Friday, home side Port Mourant Training Centre routed Comprehensive Secondary 42-24 in their U-20 fixture.
Antonio Islam led all scorers with 13 points for Port Mourant while Deon Allicock netted five points for Comprehensive Secondary.
