Second half goals from Mario Padmore and Tariq Martin in the 64th and 67th minutes helped Tutorial High secure a 3-1 win over North Georgetown Secondary in the Scotiabank/Pepsi Schools football tournament at the Ministry of Education Ground, Carifesta Avenue yesterday.
North Georgetown took the lead in the first half when Landale George scored in the 30th minute.
It took the eventual winners 11 minutes to equal the score after the second half resumed with Steve Stanton netting in the 46th minute.
Padmore’s goal in the 64th minute gave Tutorial the lead and Martin added the final goal of the match three minutes later.
In earlier results, Lodge Secondary routed School of the Nations 9-3 while Queen’s College and Campbellville Secondary played to 1-1 draw.
For Lodge Secondary, Kevin Hackett netted a helmet trick scoring in the fifth 38th, 40th and 51st minutes.
Hackett’s opening goal was followed by goals from Shaquille Gravor and Shemar Smith in the 8th, 28th, 17th and 20th minutes’ respectively while Kevin Boter scored in the 23rd minute.
Nations’ Carlos Oviedo was his team’s goal scorer netting hat-trick in the 44th, 53rd and 59th minutes.
Despite the defeat Nations remains on top of Group ‘A’ with 12 points.
Nathan Patterson scored the first goal for Queen’s in the 38th minute. Daniel Ross (44th) replied with the equalizer seven minutes later.
The competition continues today at the same venue with a female double header and a male match from 10:30hrs.
