A carpenter from Canal #2 Polder, West Demerara died last evening after the motorcycle he was riding slammed into a parked trailer.
Residents of the area where the accident occurred say that 27-year-old Rahendra Nauth, of 32 North Section Canal #2, died on the spot after he slammed into a trailer which was parked on the side of the road.
The accident occurred at around 18:30hrs in the vicinity of the “Masjid Bridge,” North Canal #2.
One man said that Nauth slammed into the trailer as he attempted to avoid a badly parked canter. The man was reportedly making his way west along the road which runs through the West Bank village.
When Stabroek News visited Mainwatie Sarjou, the man’s mother, at around 21:05 last night, friends and family had already assembled to show their support.
Sarjou, who lives not too far from the scene of the accident, said she was alerted to the incident after a crowd had gathered near the trailer. The woman said she had no idea that it was her son who had been involved in the accident until she investigated for herself.
She said that when she arrived on the scene she saw Nauth sprawled on the road.
The man’s body was eventually taken to Lyken’s Funeral Parlour.
Nauth leaves to mourn his wife, mother and several siblings.
