Residents of Princeville, Region 8 are expected to benefit from a $6.8 million health hut that was built by the government.
The facility was commissioned on Thursday by Minister within the Ministry of Local Government, Norman Whittaker during a ministerial outreach, a release from the Government Information Agency said.
The hut which was constructed in 2012 by J and B Brothers is equipped with a waiting area, malaria room, a community health workers room, drug storage facility, water storage facilities and washrooms.
It is also fenced and will see residents benefitting from improved health care services in the community, the release added. Whittaker urged residents to preserve the facility and charged health workers to perform their duties in the interest of the community and enhance the quality of services offered, the release said.
The initiative for the health hut emanated from residents’ request to have a health facility.
