Former Attorney General, Charles Ramson Snr has been appointed as Commis-sioner of Information by President Donald Ramotar under the Access to Information Act 2011.
The Government Information Agency said that Cabinet Secretary Dr Roger Luncheon at his weekly post- Cabinet media briefing at the Office of the President yesterday, made the announcement.
“The Commissioner of Information under the Act has considerable powers. Guyanese would be told through the media of this information available, and how it is available for access by members of the public…the Commissioner would be advising how this could be done”, Luncheon said.
GINA said that the Commissioner’s office would be located at the Office of the President.
