GBTI’s Automated Teller Machines in Georgetown experienced major problems yesterday and again this morning but were back up at around 10 am.
For most of the day yesterday all of the ATMs in its Georgetown network were down. One customer told Stabroek News that yesterday he checked the ATMs at the bank’s Kingston Headquarters, at the Bank of Guyana, its branch on Water Street and its Regent Street branch and none was working. Yesterday afternoon around 5.30 pm the ATM’s were back in service but sometime last night the system went down again and customers were again unable ti use them.
This morning one customer said checks at the ATMs showed that they were still not working. However, this changed later in the morning. The bank has issued no statement on the problem. Customers have had to rely on messages on the ATM screens for notification that the machines are down.
